"There is a Wisdom. There is a Way?"
Madame Blavatsky created the Theosophical Society as an advanced spiritualist medium who believed that the afterlife was multi-religious and multi-tribal and everything is one as the prophets are but a spoke of one wheel. The true spiritual master understands every religion at every time and recognizes the essential core truths are the same and lead to greater enlightenment. The future will indeed try to unify all religions if this is possible this is why the Theosphical Society was formed. Its three declared Objectives are:
THEOSOPHY is the body of truths which forms the basis of all religions, and which cannot be claimed as the exculsive possession of any. It offers a philosophy which renders life intelligible and which demonstrates the justice and the love which guides its evolution. It puts death in its rightful place, as a recurring incident in evolution. It illuminates the scriptures and doctrines of religions by unveiling their hidden meanings, and thus justifying them at the bar of intelligence stripped of their superstition.
Members of the Theosophical Society study these truths, and Theosophists endeavour to live them. Everyone willing to study, to be tolerant, to aim high, and to work perseveringly is welcomed as a member, and it rests with the member to become a true Theosophist.
Resolutions passed by the General Council of The Theosophical Society
UNIVERSAL BROTHERHOOD
In view of the conditions prevailing in many countries at present, the General Council declares that in as much as The Theosophical Society stands for Universal Brotherhood of Humanity irrespective of race, creed, sex, caste, or colour, any form of racialism or policy or practice based on the discrimination between the races, to the advantage of some and the detriment of others, is contrary to the basic character and aims of the society.
FREEDOM OF THE SOCIETY
The Theosophical Society, while cooperating with all other bodies whose aims and acitivities make such cooperation possible, is, and must remain, an organization entirely indpendent of them, not committed to any objects save its own, and intent on developing its own work on the broadest and most inclusive lines, so as to move towards its own goal as indicated in and by the pursuit of those objects and the Divine Wisdom which, in the abstract, is implicit in the title of The Theosophical Society.
Since Universal Brotherhood and the Wisdom are undefined and unlimited, and since there is complete freedom for each and every member of the Society in thought and action, the Society seeks ever to maintain its own distinctive and unique character by remaining free of affiliation or identification with any other organization.
FREEDOM OF THOUGHT
As the Theosophical Society has spread far and wide over the civilized world, and as members of all religions have become members of it without surrendering the special dogmas, teachings and beliefs of their respective faiths, it is thought desirable to emphasize the fact that there is no doctrine, no opinion, by whomsoever taught or held that is in any way binding on any member of the Society, none by which any member is not free to accept or reject. Approval of the three Objects is the sole condition for membership. No teacher, or writer, from H.P Blavatasky downwards, has any authority to impose his teachings or opinions on members. Every member has an equal right to attach himself to any school of though which he may choose, but has no right to force his choice on any other. Neither a candidate for any office, nor any voter, can be rendered ineligible to stand or vote, because of any opinion he may belong. Opinions or beliefs neither bestow privileges nor inflict penalties. The Members of the General Council earnestly request every member of the Theosophical Society to maintain, defend and act upon these fundamental principles of the Society, and also fearlessly to exercise his own right of liberty of thought and expression thereof, within the limits of courtesy and consideration of others.
